Why Join LMLA?
Membership in LMLA can be a rewarding and exciting experience. When people have the opportunity to work with others who share the same interests, common goals and the desire to better themselves, their community and their workplace? great things can happen.
LMLA is a Lockheed Martin employee organization that supports our local communities with volunteers who dedicate their time and experience to making a difference. LMLA also provides its members with opportunities for personal development, networking, and social activities.
LMLA is affiliated with the National Management Association (NMA). Many other Lockheed Martin businesses have NMA chapters; in fact, Lockheed Martin has the largest representation within NMA than any other company member. Through NMA, LMLA sponsors the Certified Manager Program and offers other professional development activities.
Benefits of Membership
It all starts with the involvement of dedicated members who care about the future. Sometimes we forget that although we can not change the whole world, we can change the world around us. Our individual and collective efforts really do make a difference in our workplace, our communities and our futures.
LMLA offers you the opportunity to grow. What may come as a surprise, however, is the participating in our organization can also help you build skills that translate to greater success in all parts of your life. By participating in NOVA+ activities, you can:
- Develop leadership skills by organizing and motivating others to do something good for the Company, the community, and themselves;
- Enhance your personal and business skills by managing group projects, practicing public speaking and presentation techniques, and polishing your interpersonal skills;
- Network with co-workers who are interested in tackling important issues in the community and company.
Community Service
LMLA sponsors community volunteer activities, such as:
- Habitat for Humanity - Retrofitting homes
- Boy Scout Food Drive - Collecting canned goods
- Walkathons /Bike a Thons
- Adopt-a-Highway
- American Enterprise Speech contest
- Judging Science Fairs
Social Activities
We have fun, too! Our social committee is always looking for new events. Our outings have included:
- Philadelphia Museum of Art - special exhibitions
- Dinner theatres, winery tours, and day
- cruises
Sporting events
Professional Development
Workshops and courses are offered to LMLA members through the National Management Association (NMA). Members can participate in the Certified Manager Program and sit for the certification exam.
LMLA also provides opportunities to interact with local and corporate leaders and provides leadership training and personal enrichment opportunities through participation in the organization’s activities. Members also receive notice when the on-line MANAGE Magazine is available.
